Band Bios
Don
Frank - Music has always been a part
of Don’s life. From an early age he would
hit the furniture, kick the back of chairs and
listen to the Beatles on his close and play turntable.
After taking over his brother’s drum set
at age five, Don went on to play in his school
Jazz, Orchestra, and Marching band. He formed
his first rock band in junior high and has played
with many diverse and talented artists over the
years including: playing a drum duet with Ed Shaughnessy
(The Tonight Show), receiving a gold record for
studio work on The Doobie Brothers album "Cycles,"
and playing live and on recordings with Ronnie
Montrose and Marc Bonilla. Mr. Frank enjoys spending
time with his wife Eva and kids, writing, recording,
and producing music in his studio, and rockin’
the room with the Gravy boys!
Erik
Frykman - A guitar aficionado and collector,
Erik has been mastering his craft for over 30
years. His uncanny ear for musical tone and authoritative
playing style has created a legion of Frykman
fans throughout the Bay Area. Erik played in several
original bands in the ‘80s, including Catch
22. His knowledge of all that is “guitar”
is unparalleled, and his passion for playing is
evident at every performance. Mr. Frykman spends
his days as a guitar teacher/mentor, and in his
spare time he enjoys attending Raiders & Giants
games, spending time with his family and his dog,
Ellie.
Marc
Ramsey - An accomplished songwriter,
Marc is equally proficient on bass, piano and
guitar. Mr. Ramsey possesses the proven ability
on bass to lay down a groove that soothes even
the most savage beast! Marc has been part of the
Bay Area music scene since the early ‘80’s,
and has created all of GravyBoat’s original
music. His melodic bass lines make people get
up and shake what they’ve got! A skilled
graphic artist and renowned painter, he also enjoys
Giants games, Sharks hockey, spending time with
his kids, and enjoying the great outdoors.
Steve
Gerard - From his earliest memories of
somersaulting wildly to Beatles music, Steve is
a born performer. Blessed with keen pitch, Steve
is able to take on a wide variety of musical range,
style, and sensibilities. A fifth generation Californian,
Mr. Gerard began performing in Los Angeles in
the late ‘80’s as a session singer.
He founded two local cover bands prior to joining
GravyBoat. With his infectious energy, Steve lives
to make people sing and dance and clap their hands!
When he’s not onstage, his hobbies include
travel, Giants baseball, golf, and broadening
his horizons.
Whether it’s a party,
wedding, or birthday celebration, if you are looking
for the right band for your occasion… search
no further! With its’ extremely diverse
song list and unbridled energy, GravyBoat is a
